Oh the shame & Purple Rain

Well folks, I'm going to have to come clean with you. This weekend I helped out at my uncle's annual garage sale. One of his friends also had a bunch of stuff for sale there, including a box of CDs. I flipped through briefly and came across something I might be interested in buying. Didn't buy it then but decided to think about it. Some time later, my brother Marc decided that he would buy a couple of CDs. In a fit of ... I don't know ... insanity, perhaps - I told him to buy me the one CD I had been looking at earlier (I stupidly came without any cash). I pretended that I wouldn't be upset if it was gone by this time, but when he came back with it, I was thrilled.

Here's the clincher - the CD in question is Prince's Purple Rain soundtrack. I know! It's a terrible movie but I love the music. So there you go - I'm a closet Prince fan. The Shame!

I remember that movie, somewhat vaguely as I was only seven when it came out but I do recall not being allowed to see it by my parents. Damned child censorship! Anyhoo, was the movie good or was the music better? Is this what it sounds like when doves cry?

The movie is terrible. Just terrible. But the music is great - if you like Prince. Maybe it's a love it/hate it thing, but I
just love it.

I was driving to work this morning and heard "Little Red Corvette". It made me think of you.

I'm a closet Prince fan as well. It's fun stuff to listen to.

I also was not allowed to see the movie, but did see the beginning of it one time while I was babysitting. The parents came home before I could watch it all. All I remember is tiny little Prince riding a huge motorcycle. Is that even from the movie, or one of his videos???

Video was made from clips of the movie, actually (embarrassing that I should know ...)

I tried watching the movie one night on TV, but it was just so bad, I ended up turning it off. But I'll have to agree with Stef on this one: old Prince stuff is great! I think I mentioned it in the summer, Stef, but can anyone recall the video to "Kiss"? Oh man, it is sooooo funny! Prince, man that he is, struts around in his high-heeled boots and boofy hair, trying to be sexy. Hysterical! I'm not too sure if it was meant to be funny though...
