Reasons not to have kids

So, many of you know that I have zero interest in having children and that I have for many, many years been jokingly writing a book filled with reasons not to have kids.

Last night I found out another - a friend just had an ultrasound that cost $420!!!

Can you believe this? Over four hundred dollars for one little exam? Man, oh man. All I could picture was a couple of pairs of shoes out the window. A couple of pairs of jeans - gone. A few haircuts - no more. More than a mortgage payment - bye bye!

Boy, you gotta really wanna have kids to go through all that.

Was this an optional ultra sound? I've never had to pay for any of the tests I've had in relation to my pregnancies.

That's not to say it's not expensive to have kids. It definitely is. I just wonder why she had to pay for this test. Is it not covered in QC?

This type of ultrasound was done in place of an amneosyntesis (? spelling). Because my friend is over 35, and given the risk of miscarriage with an amneo, they did this ultrasound instead.

I have no idea if any of these tests are covered here.

Lemme tell ya, when it's your own kid and you want to make sure it's healthy, you'd gladly pay that amount.

I see you're re-reading Persuasion. I just read it again myself. It had been years and I had forgotten how much I loved it. Great book.

I'm not enjoyng Mansfield Park as much right now.
